Seventh Mile of My Learning Marathon

Half term break

Last week was my first half term break since the beginning of college in September. It didn't feel much like a holiday compared to the holidays in secondary school because in secondary when we went on holiday you wouldn't have school work to complete. It would be just about staying at home doing nothing but in college in the holidays I had to complete two demanding assignments. I struggled to complete the assignments in the holiday because there were too many distractions such as the television, social network site and video games. All these are not normally distractions during the term because I am in a different mind-set so I don't really pay attention to them.

Another reason why I struggled to complete the assignments was because it was difficult to ask for help, it is not like during the term when if I am struggling with something I can just go and ask my teacher for help.

The best part of my holiday was going back to training with my football team because I got to see to see some of my mates that I haven't seen since summer. I went to three training sessions in the holiday and I found it quite intense because I was a bit rusty. I was surprised that I was allowed to play in the cup match on Saturday and I didn't let the team down in the match because I scored the only two goals of the match which got us through to the quarter-finals. It is just a shame that I would not be able to play in the rest of tournament.

Recent challenges

The negative part of taking a break from school is that I always find it hard to get back into the routine of waking up early and running to the train station. It is difficult to get back into the routine because in the holidays I went to bed and woke up at different times. Due to this it made it hard when I had to wake up early to make sure I am on time for college to maintain my perfect attendance. The attendance is really important for me due to the fact that I am aiming for 100% attendance as it is important when applying for universities as it will show them that I am serious about my education.

Targets of this term

This term I am aiming to do more of the same and also better. Last term I was able to maintain perfect attendance and punctuality. This was something I was very determined about from the start of the year. I was also able to hand in and make sure that I passed all my assignments that I have done so far. Which is a great achievement because it means that I am on the right track to getting my target grade D* D* D which is going to be my passport to getting an entry to Kings College London and study Computer science and Business Management.
